History of the Firm
Ritter Schierscher Rechtsanwälte AG was formed in 2016 through the merger of two renowned Liechtenstein law firms:
Jehle & Partner Rechtsanwälte AG and
Ritter & Ritter Advokatur AG.
This merger brought together decades of experience, diverse legal perspectives and a shared set of values under one roof.
Ritter & Ritter Advokatur AG was founded in 2002 by Dr. Michael Ritter, a former member of the Government of the Principality of Liechtenstein, and lic. iur. Christian Ritter, formerly a judge at the Princely District Court. Both founders contributed extensive experience from government service, the judiciary and private legal practice.
The origins of Jehle & Partner Rechtsanwälte AG date back to 1977, when former District Court Judge Dr. Hanspeter Jehle joined the law firm of Dr. Gregor Steger as a partner. Over the following decades, he developed the firm into one of Liechtenstein's leading legal practices. In 2002, Dr. Peter Schierscher, a distinguished litigation lawyer with broad expertise in commercial law, joined the firm as a partner.
Today's Ritter Schierscher Rechtsanwälte AG unites these distinct traditions and professional backgrounds, driven by a common commitment to legal excellence, personal advisory services and sustainable solutions at the highest professional level.
Since 2015, Christian Ritter has served as a part-time judge at the Constitutional Court and, effective as of 2026, was appointed full-time Vice President of the Constitutional Court. In light of this distinguished appointment, he retired from the firm at the end of 2025.
A significant step towards the future was marked by the admission of long-standing and highly experienced attorneys lic. iur. Martina Altmann and MLaw Michaela Beck-Bieberschulte as partners as of 1 January 2026. Both have been integral members of the firm for many years. With their broad professional expertise, strong client focus and personal commitment, they strengthen the firm's strategic development and consistently carry forward its tradition of competence, reliability and tailored legal advice.
